ok we are preparing the house for the SuperBowl, so thatmeans we must put each hdtv in SUPERBOWL CONFIGURATION. That means that no matter where i am in the house, i can see a TV!! Yes yes yes ..ok We are going with the NY GIANTS, for no other reason than that i am from NY and I absolutely hate all teams from the state of Mass!!!

dont give me an explanation just say WHO YOU GOT!!

ok Superbowl festivities are always prime for good eats!! Whatcha making this year?

hmmm i got some gumbo going, as well as a turkey roast, butter beans, corn bread, rice, and collards!! thats whats up!

ok - - ummm i ve just received 6 emails in the last week from co-workers and folks I have worked with in the past.. all are changing jobs, leaving our company or just got laid off!!

This is becoming a scary trend around the us but i never thought it was this bad. People are telling me they were just making it from check to check, and these are people with spouses that work!! I couldnt believe it!! Things are getting tough all around it seems. The last big recession the country went through I was fortunately sheltered from (being in the military) yet I could see its affects. What Id like to know from all of you, is how are you preparing for the hard times ahead and how are you making adjustments to stretch your dollar?

- lowered thermostat
- no un necessary trips in the car / work school shop all one day
- wash clothes every 9 days (yeah i know, but i got plenty underwear
- no more dry cleaning
- hit my brother up more for the latest movies (wont say bootleg lets just say recently released )
- preparing more comfort food (it can last longer in the fridge)
- less beer and wine consumption..errrr ok less wine consumption :)

well, i cooked whole wheat spaghetti, ground turkey, and some veggies. i kept it pretty chill. then i made some banana sorbet from scratch. it was yummy.

stretching my dollar. i buy a lot at the store, fresh veggies, or whatever i need to eat, and then i only go out every now and again, but I do not eat out during the week. i bring lunch (which is always something fresh and good). I"m eating by portions which helps me stretch even more. I find I can get more by eating less than my usual. Helps with my weight control too (though by summer -- it could be a struggle with the Taste of Chicago coming).

I was cheering for the Patriots, but they didn't do the job!
