Just James:Music,Words,Soul

sorry for my absence good people. I have been entrenched with fulfilling the hopes and dreams of lil gurls, and of course WORK!! It became important for me to step away from here for a minute, to re-group and refresh my thoughts. So here I am once again!

New Years Resolutions, and why in the hell do we make them? I wish I bloody knew why people (including myself) make these promises to themselves, yet many dont FOLLOW THROUGH with them..

Mark Twain
New Year's is a harmless annual institution, of no particular use to anybody save as a scapegoat for promiscuous drunks, and friendly calls and humbug resolutions.

Brooks Atkinson
Drop the last year into the silent limbo of the past. Let it go, for it was imperfect, and thank God that it can go.

Bill Vaughan
Youth is when you're allowed to stay up late on New Year's Eve. Middle age is when you're forced to.

Hmmm indeed, I have made many resolutions in the past, and Lawd knows I probably will make more over the next 40-50 years hahha yes I plan on being around that long! Some things I have RESOLVED in the past have been:

1 - - Stop Drinking and partying, i actually accomplished that one..but I do still have a nice cold Guiness erry now and then.

2 -- Get my life in order; I'm still working on that one, but i have come a whole lot farther than when i first made that resolution in 1999

3 - - Get back in shape; still working on that, and working out when i can..but my nutrition has improved immensely!!

4 - - Give more hugs - DONE!

5 - - Keep my friends close, that has been hard, but I aim to improve on that even more this year...

For this year, my only resolution is to continue down a path that finds my inner peace.

do you have any?

Don't make resolutions......only new goals, and that continues throughout the year, not just one day.....and I make them attainable so that they aren't accomplished for a couple of months then forgotten about for the remaining 10 months of the year.......

i hear you. Goals , more importantly ATTAINABLE goals, are most important in ones life structure. I have many goals, and when i was younger, those goals were always improtant to me. What I learned, though, was that life has a way of shifting your priorities, and placing you in a place sometimes where you didnt ever think you would be. Then your goals are pushed down that list a bit in the hopes of making it to the next hour, next day - - with your goals still in your heart and mind, you push forward. Some can do this, others cant. I am not perfect in anything that i do, understanding that enables me to focus on what is in front of me, as well as what lies ahead. Attainable goals, baby steps, and one meatball at a time, is how i view my life going forward...

Okay maybe I should have put the "I" in front of "don't make resolutions"....

And no-one is perfect in anything they do...that's just life, if we think otherwise we have serious issues.......

Resolutions, no. I can reflect back on where I've been and what I've been through this past year, and refine my list of goals. I have some. Well, one goal, owning a home, I got that...getting a new vehicle...did that...lost weight, got more physical exercise, increased my Spiritual strength. Added to my list would be to continue to strengthen my spiritual muscles, stay even more positive, and to get out and experience and do more things...without waiting on someone to do them with me. I don't like being a homebody because I HAVE to, rather IF I want to. Oh, and to build some wealth!

Nice post. And thanks for sharing your list with us!

I have to say I never make resolutions....life tends to get in the way and I don't accomplish them! So I just don't do it!
But I do like yours JJ! I can always give more hugss, and after these last 6 months, I make sure that the people in my life know how much I love them and how important they are to me, one never knows what will happen in the next moment, life can change with the next breath we take.
I want to embrace 2008 as a positive and strong individual! Pray for me!

I never make resoultions...because there is always soemthing to step in to take the resolutions place. Plus who knows what God has in store for them.!!

Resolutions? No more. Instead I have goals and set out certain plans for what I want in my life and work towards those. I never kept any of the resolutions I used to make anyway. Life is constantly changing and if I don't have a set goal to reach in my mind, heart & soul, it is too easy to get distracted by life's curveballs :) Happy New Year, James. May every wish and dream you desire come to fruition in 2008! Hugs, Diane.

Resolutions .. kinda like rules made to be broken .. you are setting yourself up for failure by vowing ridiculous things on January 1. The only thing I think to myself every new year is that I don't backslide and if I do (because it happens to the best of us) I pray that the end is result is still better than what it started out to be. Every single day I wake up breathing and my family is with me is a blessing and it keeps me going.

Resolutions....should be wishes..."What I wish for the new year" as rarely do many follow through with anything they resolve to do that pertains directly to themselves, because they are generally too busy taking care of others.

My wish for eeryday, or way of life...to maintain inner balance and peace and find the good and positive side in all things, don't be afraid to take chances (can't live on "what ifs), and let those in my life know as often as I can they are loved. Besos Papi!
